Having committed to being the brewery partner for the Jockey Club at Market Rasen racecourse, the day duly arrived for our first beer festival. We had 16 hand pumps and two dispensing areas for cider all on our interconnecting bar made out of used pallets. Putting the beer away for a moment, which many people did to the point where we only had 2 handpulls with beer to serve, I must say as race courses go, Market Rasen is definitely worth a visit.
The course is small enough to be welcoming but large enough to generate a great atmosphere. The weather was perfect, albeit a little breezy for anyone in fancy hats and at 5.30 pm on the day I actually saw a horse having managed to escape for a moment from behind the bar. Others were not so lucky!
Next to the racecourse there is a caravan club, so ideal for those planning a long weekend with a race day thrown in.
The next event is on the 15th October, Spire Brewing Company Gentleman's Race day, get yourself down and enjoy some great racing and wonderful craft real ales.
